Barbara was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, relative, and friend. She was affectionately

called “Sissy” by many. She always had a kind heart, a sweet hug, and a great story told with a

smile so her company was always a treat.

She was born in Mart, Texas to Oscar Thomas and Bobbie Nevills Potts on January 14, 1945.

She got her data entry degree from Durham Business College and worked at Huck

Manufacturing until Lowell, her husband, received promotions at Kmart which sent the couple

on new journeys to live in Dallas, Texas; Alamosa, Colorado; Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Billings,

Montana; and Lufkin, Texas, until moving back home. While in Billings, Barbara also obtained

her real estate license and enjoyed selling real estate during their stay there.

She had a passion for Native American artifacts, history, and art. One of the best treats for kids

(and adults too) when visiting Lowell and Barbara was the authentic teepee in their yard, along

with the numerous kids who saw it while passing by their home. She also loved travelling so for

many years, she and Lowell went on trips to various destinations with friends and family.

Although she lived far away and travelled regularly for a period of her life, she made a very

intentional effort to visit home three to four times a year for several weeks at a time. During

these stays, she visited all her family and friends. After moving home, she and Lowell

entertained family and friends for many years; her love for them all was very evident.

Lowell attended Mart schools in the same grade as Barbara throughout their school years. They

began dating in junior high school and married on July 15, 1966; they celebrated their 57 th

wedding anniversary last July. They will forever have one of the longest love stories of all time.

Waiting at Heaven’s door for Barbara were her parents, Oscar and Bobbie Potts, father-in-law,

Conrad (C.W.) Brown, and nieces, Barbara (Lynn) Potts and Hollee Brown Muhl.

Barbara (Sissy) is survived by her loving husband, Lowell, mother-in-law, Venia Rae Gooden

Brown of Mart; sister, Bonnie Potts Akins and husband, Ken; brother, Thomas Potts, and wife,

Carolyn, of Mart; brother-in-law, Gary (Lynn) Brown and wife, Betty, of Chilton; sister-in-law,

Connie Brown Busby and husband, Roger, of Leander, nephews, Robert (Bobby) Akins, and

wife, Robyn, of Mart, Jason Brown, and wife, Judy, of China Spring, Bradley Potts of Mart, and

Pallbearers are Brad Gooden, Bobby Akins, Jason Brown, Todd Gooden, Doug Mitchell, Brad

Potts, Adam Byrd, and Nic Curry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mart or the charity

   of your choice.
