Jimmy Wayne Davis, 79, of Mart, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence in San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Funeral services will be held on January 31, 2026 in Mart, TX at the First Baptist Church at 11am.
Jimmy was born on February 10, 1946, in Vernon, Texas, to Jim and Rudean Davis. As the eldest of five children, Jimmy stepped into the role of a protector early on, helping to raise each of his siblings with deep love and devotion.
On February 10, 1967, Jimmy married his high school sweetheart, Sue. This started a loving partnership that spanned for decades. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Vicenza, Italy, for five years. During his service, he served as an assistant and protector to the chaplain, a role that reflected his deep faith and commitment to others. He and Sue cherished the opportunity to travel throughout Europe during this time. While stationed in Italy, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, Crystal Dawn Davis. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Jimmy and his family returned to Texas, settling near family in Mart, where he worked in furniture sales. They later moved to Houston, where Jimmy worked as an industrial painter. During this time, they welcomed their son, James Eric Davis, born on December 13, 1978. Seeking new opportunities, the family relocated to Santa Fe, where Jimmy transitioned careers to become a skilled carpenter. He also ventured into real estate while building his carpentry business, constructing homes for many families. Eventually returning to Mart, Texas, Jimmy pursued his entrepreneurial spirit, starting multiple businesses including a car lot, home improvement services, and ultimately Lynd’s Auto Parts, a beloved car parts store in the Mart community.
Jimmy was a loving brother, devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He loved the Lord deeply and placed family above all else. He found joy in fishing, camping, creating things with his hands, and playfully teasing those around him. Known as a tough man with unwavering morals and integrity, he maintained a positive attitude throughout his life, inspiring those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Rudean Davis; his beloved wife, Sue Davis; his brother, Bobby Davis; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Little.
Jimmy is survived by his children: daughter Crystal Dodds and her husband Chris Dodds; son Eric Davis and his wife Kallie Davis; brother Gary Davis and his wife Trudy Davis; sisters Joyce Little and Janet Mitchell and her husband Jim Mitchell; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Chase Woodard, Canon Dodds, Caiti and Luke Jameson, Casey and Debra Dodds, Camp and Gia Dodds, Levi Davis, and Raven Davis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Jimmy Wayne Davis will be remembered for his strong faith, unwavering integrity, and fun, loving spirit he shared with his family and community. His legacy of hard work, positivity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
